The forget me nots I planted from seeds haven't done well. I think they don't like the soil in the pot. Darn things I was hoping I'd have a nice little display of them this year. They are supposed to be easy to grow. Maybe the seeds weren't so good. They came up ... sprouted... but that's been the end of them really. Even my fertilizer in the water... didn't seem to help. Oh well... I'll have to console myself by looking at the lovely vintage photos that have forget me nots on them... lots of postcards etc... Maybe next year I'll see them in my garden.... :-))

On my WhimsyDust Affair blog I posted a link to the great series called North and South.
If you are into English drama set in the 1850's this is another wonderful show for you to watch. I've sat up in my bed with my laptop and watched each episode on UTube. Skip over to the other blog for the link if you are interested.
~~
Richard Armitage is the star....... WOW is he ever... !!!! stunningly gorgeous ... and he doesn't kiss the heroine of the show till the last 3 minutes. I thought he never would get around to it... lol....great show ....

I'm off to the dentist next month for two new crowns... made me think of the types of treatment the Victorians suffered through. I saw a movie recently where the dentist had a treadle type contraption that was the drill. The poor patient looked as if he was being tortured. And in my Victorian murder mysteries by Anne Perry she often talks of the Crimea war and how they would pull out the teeth of the dead soldiers and use them to make nicer teeth for the wealthy gentry. Even the ladies would want nice new teeth and one of the characters in the book didn't realise where the new teeth were coming from.
~~
Makes you think about all sorts of horrible things happening back in the days when they had no electricity, no specialised tools, no fancy leaning right back chairs ... I hate those.... sometimes one feels like you are being tipped completely out the end ... many times I've hung on like a mad woman trying not to be engulfed by the chair and seeing myself land right off the end of the darn thing. However recently I was pleasantly surprised after my visit to my new Canadian dentist. Just in the time since I've left Australia ... nearly 10 years ago ... the whole practice of dentisty seems to have improved out of sight. I even get to see a tv on the ceiling whilst I'm being treated. :-))

Gosh these weeks go flying by. I no sooner post to my blog and its time to do it again. :-) Father's day coming up this weekend. I do miss my darling old dad so much. He's buried back in Australia. I remember the days when he would take me fishing... it is such a long time ago. Life back then was easier, quieter and for all the things we did not have it didn't seem to matter.
~~
Sometimes I think about those days and wonder how we managed. Having little money didn't seem to be a great concern. We managed, we had vegetables and fruit in our garden... apple, plum, and cherry trees, raspberries, gooseberries, strawberries, ... chickens and ducks for their eggs ... mum was always making jam of some sort or pies....

I would spend hours digging up the ducks yard so they could get the worms, or building them little ponds to jump in and splash about in. Having no brothers or sisters .. my pets were my friends and I cherished every single one of them. I miss those times.... people were kinder, more gentle and compassionate, friendlier and had good moral standards.
~~
Happy Father's Day dear dad - I miss you terribly.
Look after my beautiful boy Wilbur for me..... I am sure you will be together.
