This is such a pretty teaset... I would love one of these. When I left Australia to come live here in Canada I simply could not bring everything I had with me. I gave my things away to dear friends knowing they would take good care of them and enjoy them as much as I did. I had a lovely teaset ... similar to this one..
This set is quite gorgeous... very Victorian/vintage ... :-)) click on it to see it full size....

Don't you wonder at these huge bouquets they used to have at weddings in the middle 1900's and before. When I see vintage photos I sure do wonder about the people in them. Where did they live, country or town.... what were their lives like. Did the children grow up and do something famous perhaps... maybe the little boy .. as a man... joined the armed forces and died for his country. Maybe he was a doctor perhaps or a farmer. Who knows... ???? And I wonder what they would think .. knowing here in 2008 they were gracing the pages of a thing called a "blog"... for all the world to see.

Ever since I can remember I have loved shoes. These vintage styles are so pretty and elegant.... When I worked at the Museum and Art Gallery in the Decorative Arts and Costume Department we had so many like these from the 1800's.
I remember distinctly one beautiful pair of cream satin boots like the ones in the middle row here.. They were embroidered with pink roses .. on the toes and on the back of the heel and had a row of tiny fabric covered buttons up the front. They had never been worn. Absolutely stunning in their beauty and magical when thinking of the year they were made and who were they made for. They were due to go on exhibition in Melbourne and I remember one of the staff had fly over from Tasmania to "take" them personally to the Museum in Victoria.
They were too valuable just to pack up and send.

The chockies from Christmas have been cleared away in the stores to make room for the Valentine's yummy goodies. Of course I love Valentine's Day not only for the chocolates but because it was the day I arrived here in Canada in 1999 to begin my new life with my hubby and my Wilbur dog. We left Australia on Valentine's day and arrived here on Valentine's day ... of course one day was lost during the long plane flight from Hobart to Sydney, then from Sydney to Honolulu and then up to Vancouver ... It was a special day for us then and still is ...
and we were married on April Fool's day ... it just happened to be the day that the marriage celebrant was available to perform our small private ceremony and it wasn't till we looked it up on the calender did we realise the Thursday she said she could do it .. had the date of April 1.

so pretty in pink.... a lovely image to snag .. gorgeous pink dress.
I've never had many dresses in my life... I can only really remember a couple I used to wear to work and a white linen one I loved to wear in the summer... buttons all down the front and I always felt smart and elegant when I wore it. Now since I live in the snow in Canada it's even less dresses. I don't own one and haven't for the past 15 years.
It's no fun slipping around in frocks here....

Really pretty bedside lamp. I love the roses, the soft green and the gentle beige ...
vintage it would have to be.

For everything elegant ..... pretty doilies for your dresser, your plates, anywhere. I've folded some of these types of paper doilies in half and made a "lace runner" across a white painted shelf. It looks so pretty and it's an easy way to dress up your furniture. Add an old ornament or a vase of flowers, some pretty cups and saucers, photographs in silver frames.... and you've created a wonderful vintage area.
