Jana, I'm imagining the women were somewhat thin, but I have a feeling they were very heavily corseted to look so ultra thin. Us modern day ladies have it so easy, no corests, or girdles for that matter! I remember when I used to do hair, I had this older woman who always came to the salon dressed perfectly, and one time she told me she would never dream of leaving the house without wearing her girdle! LOL!!!
